Clueless thinking of how to pen down a subject that have been bothering since a while, this came to me unannounced, demanding to write. Bothersome unconfined to me but a nation.
Dear friends, have a apolitical read !!
Hence defining the topic would be a stupidest job to do, leaping over to a sad-some situation that approached a friend of mine, which beyond the dirty reality took her to emotional distress.
When the whole nation is busy following a special act of the government, some supporting while others opposing, anyway both leading to violence, here lies a nation being torn at its worst, worrying whether it could regain someday what it had lost. In the normalcy of daily-day lives, the friend who is a B.Ed. graduate, being appointed as a trainee in a school was asked to attend a class of grade 4. Dealing with the lower primary children is a haphazard for the trainees for two reasons. Number one, they don't ever seem as teachers but a far super senior who just visits the class when the real teachers are tired. Number two, since the validity of reason number one is prevalent, the treatment received is also of a brothers' or sisters', never of a teachers'. Hours of tries of disciplining the children, one would ground so easily with a mentality of giving up the 'not yet reached teaching career'. The one in the group of trainees, from a Muslim community, who got married very recently, was surprisingly allowed to continue her academic life amidst of all the orthodox useless traditions of her family. After all the hard part of teaching the children, she had the most amazing games for them, which made them disciplined and stole their hearts. She continued it on a daily basis that the children now developed a sense of enjoyment during the training period classes. Apparently on a day, when the session finished a bit earlier, they sat together for a chit-chat and talking about the cats in her home who are just like them, naughty all the time and how much her father used to beat her for poor marks in her school days etc, a boy neared her and asked in his cutest innocent manner why she was wearing this long black almost whole body covering dress. She laughed and told him that because she is a Muslim and usually they use this dress known as purdah. The boy with his mouth little more opened than before asked her now;
"You're a Muslim? So, when are you going to Pakistan???"
Shocked, the girl asked who told him this and he replied that his Dad told him the other day. The bell rang and she left the class thinking how will she teach a generation like this !
My friend told me that this was one of the saddest situation she had to face in the recent past. The melancholy of the purdah girl spoke the loudest even in the silence.
My dear Dad of the child, 'supporting or opposing' is of your personal choice. But the food you make your son eat four times a day is impalpable when you induce such poison, in concert to him. I wonder whether you have also told him to keep quite during that line of the pledge, 'All Indians are my brothers and sisters'. What a numb you are !!
